Canon EOS Rebel T6 Day 1 Review

I’ve been wanting a digital SLR camera since… maybe over a decade now? Photography was my jam in high school, and I’ve had a few good point and shoot cameras over the years, but nothing compares to the feeling of a manual camera in my hands. There was a time where I swore that I would have a darkroom in my house, because I used to skip study hall to work in my high school’s darkroom and that was truly my escape.

The darkroom dream may never come true, but today I treated myself with a birthday/tax money combo to a Canon EOS Rebel t6. It was on sale at target. I wanted the super zoom lens too but I restrained myself. Someday I’ll get the lens. I’ve named the camera Caroline because for some reason the song by Amine popped in my head when I took it out of the box.

I’ve always had canons before so I was already familiar with most of the buttons and how to work the menu. It took me a minute to figure out how to switch the camera from automatic to manual and back, but it’s so user friendly that I didn’t need the guide. The big selling point for me was that the rebel t6 is WiFi compatible. I was able to download an app to my tablet, connect it to the camera, and easily import the photos I took. No need to mess around with any wires or downloading software. This will allow me to edit my pictures on my favorite app, pixlr.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from putzing around my yard. They’re unedited. Having a camera hanging from my neck made me feel 16 again.
